Lions, Tigers, Ligers, and Tigons oh my!

The story of the liger and tigon is not a new one but it has come up in the news lately so I thought it would be interesting to look at it more in depth:

A liger is a hybrid cross between a male lion and a female tiger. The male liger is always sterile. The female is often fertile.

A tigon is a hybrid cross between a female lion and a male tiger. The male tigon is always sterile. The female is often fertile.

A cat is a cat is a cat.

Do you think some time in the future science will do this with humans and an animal?

If I were to be crossed with any kind of animal it would probably have to be a bird - I would save money by flying to work and I could peck anyone that annoys me. :-)

Dave;
You made me laugh so hard (also known as lol)! It played well in the “theater of my mind”. I think a lot of people around the world can relate to your comment. A friend told me they would want to be crossed with a tank for the very same reason!

Hi Fikalo;

I enjoy your blog, I am wondering if now you will be drawing a liger or tigon on your blog. Not exactly a lap cat!
